The Definitive Guide to Pickleball Courts in Rochester, NY

By Adam Stetzer, PhD · pickleballchatbots.com

I've played pickleball all over the Rochester area — indoor facilities in the dead of January, outdoor parks in August, ladder leagues, open play, drop-in sessions on Tuesday mornings. I've shown up to parks I'd never been to, not knowing a single person, and left with a game on the books for next week.

That's what this sport does here. Rochester has built something real.

This guide exists because when newcomers ask me where to play, I want to hand them something useful — not a Google Maps list, but a resource written by someone who's actually been on these courts. If you're new to the area, moving here, returning for snowbird season, or just starting to figure out what Rochester's pickleball scene looks like, this is the page I'd want you to find.

I'll keep it current. If something's changed or I've missed a spot, reach out.

How to Use This Guide

The Rochester pickleball landscape breaks down into three categories:

  • Premier indoor facilities — purpose-built for pickleball, year-round, programs and community
  • Public outdoor courts — free, first-come-first-served, weather dependent
  • Community centers — a mix of indoor and outdoor, often with small fees or membership

Rochester winters are real. If you're planning year-round play, you need your indoor options sorted. If you're here for summer, the outdoor parks are outstanding.

Premier Indoor Facilities

Premier Indoor Facilities

Premier Indoor Facilities

The destination venues — where the community concentrates, leagues form, and the game gets serious.

Fairport Pickleball Club

75 N. Main St., Fairport, NY 14450 (585) 416-0754 | fairportpickleballclub.com

This is where Rochester's pickleball scene leveled up. When Fairport Pickleball Club opened in late 2023 in the heart of Fairport Village, it set a new standard for what a dedicated facility could look like in this region. Ten indoor courts on the SportMaster Premier Cushioned Court System, BriteCourt pickleball-specific lighting, permanent nets and lines, a mezzanine for viewing, locker rooms and showers, a bar, a pro shop. They built something worth driving to.

The Village of Fairport setting isn't incidental. You can walk to dinner after a session, or grab coffee before one. There's a reason the PPA Tour chose this facility for a Challenger Series event in June 2025.

Membership starts around $45/month. Non-members can play as guests. Open play runs daily. Reservations through their website.

I'm a member here and it's one of the best investments I've made in my game. The community is genuine — you'll see the same faces week after week, and that's a feature, not a bug.

Dinkers Pickleball Campus

135 Despatch Dr., East Rochester, NY 14445 (585) 673-2006 | dinkerspb.com

Dinkers is the largest pickleball campus in the area — 16 courts total, 12 indoors and 4 outdoors, with a Backyard Bar & Grill and a café on site. This is not a minimalist operation. It's a full campus built around the idea that pickleball is also a social scene.

The programming runs deep: leagues, ladder play, lessons, clinics, tournaments, camps. I played their ladder league for a stretch and it's well-organized — the competitive level varies enough that you consistently find games worth playing.

Hours vary by day. Check their website or the CourtReserve app before heading over.

ROC City Pickleball

1861 Scottsville Rd., Bldg. 800, Rochester, NY 14623 (585) 417-5038 | roccitypickleball.com

ROC City came at pickleball from a community-first angle and it shows. They call their space the Pickletorium — five indoor courts with outdoor-grade Super Seal surfaces, two practice courts with a Spinshot ball machine, LED lighting, a pro shop, and a lounge that functions as a genuine gathering place.

Non-members are welcome. Open play runs daily. Free intro classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6:30pm — no catch. That choice says something about the culture they're building.

On Scottsville Road near Henrietta, well-positioned for the south and southwest side of the metro.

Harro East Athletic Club

400 Andrews St., Rochester, NY 14604 (585) 546-1000

A downtown Rochester fitness institution with two indoor pickleball courts. Membership-based. If you work downtown or already belong here, it's a convenient option. Call ahead to confirm current court availability and open play schedules.

JCC of Greater Rochester (Louis S. Wolk JCC)

1200 Edgewood Ave., Rochester, NY 14618 (585) 461-2000

Two indoor courts within a full athletic facility. Membership-based. If you're a JCC member or considering one, the pickleball program is worth a conversation. Contact them directly for current open play times.

Tennis Club of Rochester

570 Kreag Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534 (585) 381-2529

Four outdoor dedicated pickleball courts at a long-established Pittsford tennis club. Membership-based. For players who also play tennis, or who want pickleball inside a traditional club environment, worth a call.

Roc Dome Pickleball Club (Closed)

2695 E. Henrietta Rd., Henrietta, NY 14467

Listed here because it still shows up in searches and people still ask about it. The Roc Dome opened in November 2023 after a $500,000 conversion of the historic Dome Arena — 12 tournament-quality courts filling the building's circular floor. It was an impressive space while it lasted. It closed abruptly and permanently on July 24, 2024. The arena has since been leased to a youth lacrosse organization. If you've been searching for it, now you know.

Public Outdoor Courts: Monroe County Parks

Public Outdoor Courts: Monroe County Parks

Public Outdoor Courts: Monroe County Parks

Monroe County made a serious investment in pickleball infrastructure starting in 2022. The parks system now has 23 courts across multiple locations. All free, all open to the public.

Mendon Ponds Park

95 Douglas Rd., Honeoye Falls, NY 14472 monroecounty.gov/parks

Four dedicated outdoor courts, permanent nets, free, first-come-first-served.

Mendon Ponds is one of the most beautiful public spaces in the region — 2,500 acres of glacial ponds, trails, and forest that now includes four quality pickleball courts. I've played here in summer and the setting makes every game feel like more than just a game. Water and restrooms nearby.

This is the outdoor court I'd send any visitor to first. The park is worth a full morning, not just the match.

Black Creek Park

West Henrietta Road, North Chili, NY 14514 monroecounty.gov/parks

Four dedicated outdoor courts, built in 2023 alongside Mendon Ponds as part of the same county investment. Free, permanent nets. A lesser-visited gem on the western edge of the metro — if Mendon Ponds is crowded on a summer Saturday, this is your move.

Ellison Park

monroecounty.gov/parks

One of the earlier Monroe County pickleball installations, in the Irondequoit area. Open for public play. Confirm current availability on the county parks site.

Churchville Park, Ontario Beach Park, Webster Park, Greece Canal Park

Additional Monroe County parks with pickleball courts, spread across different quadrants of the county. The parks website has the current full listing. Particularly useful if you live near one.

Public Outdoor Courts: City of Rochester Parks

Public Outdoor Courts: City of Rochester Parks

The City of Rochester has been steadily expanding pickleball access — first dedicated courts at Maplewood Park, plus dual-striped tennis/pickleball courts across several neighborhood parks. All free, first-come-first-served, with some locations offering online reservations.

Maplewood Park

Maplewood Drive, Rochester, NY cityofrochester.gov

The city's first dedicated pickleball courts — worth noting. This is a real investment in a neighborhood park, not a tennis court with tape on it. Councilmember Mitch Gruber championed the project.

Farmington Park

Merchants Road, Rochester, NY

Dedicated courts added through the same city initiative. Newer infrastructure on the south side of the city.

City of Rochester Dual-Striped Courts and R-Centers

Dual-striped tennis/pickleball courts exist at multiple neighborhood parks across the city — free and publicly accessible. The full list is at cityofrochester.gov and has been growing. R-Center locations also run structured adult pickleball open play on specific days, often at no cost. Check the R-Center page for current programming by location.

Fishers Park (Town of Victor)

7929 Main St., Fishers (Victor), NY 14564 Also accessible via Wangum Road entrance townofvictorny.gov

Eight dedicated outdoor courts, permanent nets, free, with year-round restrooms at the court area. One of the best outdoor settings in the region — five miles of trails through wooded hillsides, wetlands, and along Irondequoit Creek. You can play a solid match and then walk for an hour in the woods. I've played here and it delivers.

About five miles from Mendon Ponds and a completely different experience — more wooded, more intimate. If you're building a summer outdoor rotation, these two parks anchor the southeast side of the metro nicely.

Pinnacle Athletic Campus

7600 Pinnacle Rd., Victor, NY 14564

Indoor pickleball in a multi-sport facility — basketball and volleyball share the space, which means wood floors with a lot of competing lines. It works, but go in knowing that. The bigger issue is glare: at certain times of day the shiny hardwood creates a real visibility problem that you won't anticipate until you've experienced it. I've played here. Call ahead, ask about which courts are available, and find out what time of day works best before you make the drive.

Drop-in fee. Not a dedicated facility, but a legitimate option for Victor-area players in winter.

Thornell Farm Park (Pittsford Recreation)

480 Mendon Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534

Four outdoor courts, permanent nets, free, next to Pittsford Mendon High School. First-come-first-served when not reserved for Pittsford Recreation events. The Recreation Center runs organized pickleball groups for teens, young adults, and seniors — one of the few programs in the area that actually segments by age.

One of my favorite outdoor spots in the area. Courts are in good shape and the Pittsford setting is hard to complain about.

Henrietta Parks and Recreation

Calkins Road, Henrietta, NY

Four indoor courts. Open pickleball available for non-members at a small fee. Court rentals on Fridays for groups. Lessons for beginner and intermediate players. Veterans Memorial Park courts in Henrietta have also been upgraded for pickleball.

Worth checking current programming directly — the schedule has shifted over time.

Perinton Community Center

1350 Turk Hill Rd., Fairport, NY 14450

Indoor courts plus additional outdoor courts added through a separate Perinton initiative. Check their current schedule for open play and structured sessions.

Chili Community Center

3235 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624

Open gym pickleball with a skill-tiered programming ladder: New to Pickleball, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. If you're just starting out, the structured entry here is well designed. Schedule on their website.

Greece Community and Senior Center

3 Vince Tofany Blvd., Rochester, NY 14612 (585) 723-2425

Six outdoor courts — the main outdoor option for the Greece and northwest corner of the metro. Free. Call ahead to confirm current programming.

Ogden Community Center

269 Ogden Center Rd., Spencerport, NY 14559

Three courts, free, no permanent nets. A neighborhood option for Spencerport and Ogden area players.

Eastside YMCA

Penfield, NY

One court, membership-based. Worth checking current pickleball programming if you're already a Y member in Penfield.

Greenwood Park

1550 Scribner Rd., Penfield, NY 14625

Two outdoor courts. A solid neighborhood option for Penfield area players.

Valenti Sports

3041 Atlantic Ave., Rochester, NY

A unique one. Valenti has a few outdoor courts and a barn with wood floors — minimal heat, so warm-weather territory. The setup is on personal property and functions mostly as private lesson space, with the occasional tournament in summer. Not a drop-in venue. But if you're working with a coach and need court time, or hear about a small tournament here, it's worth knowing it exists. I've done a number of lessons there and it's a legitimate place to put in work.

Sonnenberg Park (Canandaigua — Day Trip Worth Making)

Sonnenberg Park (Canandaigua — Day Trip Worth Making)

Sonnenberg Park (Canandaigua — Day Trip Worth Making)

Canandaigua, NY

Technically outside Monroe County, but worth the 35-minute drive. Eight dedicated outdoor courts, free, in a Canandaigua city park. If you're heading to the Finger Lakes for a weekend, build a morning of pickleball into the trip. Eight courts is a serious outdoor installation — you'll find a game.

Where to Find Games

Where to Find Games

Where to Find Games

Finding a court is step one. Finding a game is step two. Rochester has built real infrastructure for both.

PlayTime Scheduler — playtimescheduler.com/region/rochester-ny. Free, built specifically for organizing pickleball in the Rochester/Monroe County area. Post a session, join one, stop showing up to empty courts.

CourtReserve — Both Fairport Pickleball Club and ROC City use this for scheduling. Free account, easy to use, shows open play availability in real time.

Fairport Pickleball Club open play — Daily, two-hour structured format, manageable wait times. Guests welcome.

Dinkers ladder league — If you want organized competitive play, start here. The format puts you against people near your level.

A Note on Seasonality

A Note on Seasonality

A Note on Seasonality

Rochester is not Phoenix. Outdoor courts are good from roughly May through October. November through April, you need your indoor options or you'll be standing in a parking lot wondering what happened.

The indoor infrastructure here is genuinely strong. Fairport, Dinkers, and ROC City between them offer well over 30 courts and programming seven days a week. If you're a snowbird heading south for February, you already know the drill. If you're new to Rochester, build your indoor plan before October. Don't wait until the first snow to figure it out.

What I'm Still Learning

What I'm Still Learning

What I'm Still Learning

This guide will never be completely finished, and I'd rather say that than pretend otherwise. The one gap I'm still tracking: the City of Rochester's full dual-striped court list — the city is the authoritative source and it changes. Check cityofrochester.gov directly for the most current picture.

If you play somewhere I've missed, or something here is out of date, reach out through the contact page. This gets better with community input. That's the whole point.

A Note to Facilities

A Note to Facilities

If you run a pickleball venue, club, or community center in the Rochester area and want to be included more fully here — or want to link to this guide as a resource for your players — I'd welcome the conversation. Reach out through the contact page.

This exists to serve the Rochester pickleball community. The more people it reaches, the better it works for everyone.

Last updated: March 2026. Always verify hours, programming, and fees directly with each facility — things change and I do my best to keep up.
